In all honesty I am still quite awestruck at how well my books have been received on Amazon – they collectively reached the top 50 within a week of publishing!
Never has anything that I have published got so much attention that quickly and at that volume! I am truly grateful! Especially since I am kinda under the radar and not a big hotshot in the divinatory community – I’m just a scholar here in my corner minding my own business for the most part. 🤭 So, I kinda expected the same trend with most of my other endeavours that you need to be patient as it has to ‘get into the marketplace and build a presence’. Plus I get to stick it to both Llewellyn and US Games Systems with their “there is no demand for this product” attitudes – two years later and the underdog not only persevered but succeeded! “Ne ne ne, ne, ne, ne!” 🤪 Anyways, enough of naysayers, lets get to the good stuff! LOL!
The Runes Series
I have published two books so far on Amazon pertaining to the Runic Alphabets specifically the Elder Futhark, Younger Futhark and the Anglo-Saxon Futhorc. I am aiming for four in the set as discussed on my post about launching the first book in the series. The rest of the books have a lot of work ahead of them so they are not going to be such rapid fire releases like the two initial books. I do not have a set date for their release either as I produce the best work when I allow these creative projects to develop at their own pace. Truthfully, there is no rush in any case.
The second book was ready shortly after but it took a lot of reformatting from the original Celestial Rune Sigils Oracle Deck. I had to rearrange the separate pieces of bindrunes, text and runes into multiple different layouts to see how these would look in the eBook and Paperback. I not only wanted it to be easy to read, but also easy to use as a reference book for both eBook and Paperback formats – thus not too much flipping of pages back and forth during use… Even with being as efficient as possible during planning and organising the layouts I still had to go through 10+ layouts 24 times! Made me a bit cross-eyed… So, with lots of coffee I manged to wrangle the layouts into an easy to use eBook and Paperback (as these formats have different layouts) and got the book published sooner than I expected. There were no issues during submission as it was all my own work created from scratch and both formats were live on the 14th of July.
This book covers the 24 black and white bind runes that I created (initially as a deck available on MakePlayingCards) with additional information about their crafting, uses and invocation during magickal and spiritual rituals (the books makes a great companion to the deck and you can read more about the Celestial Rune Sigils deck here).
The Celestial Rune Sigils book is unfortunately not available in the Kindle Unlimited program as this would mean that I am not allowed to publish my oracle deck in return for the earnings of those book reads. I am not willing to sacrifice the one for the other as they are equally important for me to have out in the world to assist people.
Top 50 Amazon Best Sellers
The books collectively reached the Top 50 “Best Sellers in Divination with Runes” within 24 hours after the Celestial Rune Sigils went live! Book 1 stood proudly at position #37 and Book 2 occupying slot #50 on the first page on 15 July 2020. Sales were booming! 😍 My jaw literally dropped at the sight of all the sales and the page ranking of the books. These two books had outperformed any other online shop that I have started in their first week, some even in their first year! It was amazing! 🤩
Side note: these page rankings seem to differ on a daily basis so I am not quite sure which metrics contribute to the score… I am also not planning on watching these like a hawk every day but if I do catch them at #1 I would most certainly grab another screen shot to brag over 🤣
Here is another screenshot of the books trending under the Top 10 Hot New Releases in Divination with Runes page, but this one is time bound as newer books start to pile in…
I am waiting with bated breath for my first reviews! That would most certainly be the cherry on top! LOL!
Updates – 18 September 2020
My first book reviews are in! Yippee!
Very different perspective of the runes loved the different meanings keywords given to the runes used by the author I found them and the book to be quite spiritual it was certainly food for thought re designing my own bindrunes it was well written and enhanced my knowledge helping me look at the runes with fresh eyes I like the fact the elemental symbols were also used I’d also buy a book if the author wrote one on divinitory meanings very enjoyable writing style1st review Amazon by Bruno, Celestial Rune Sigils Book
What a lovely first review, thank you so much Bruno! 😊
